HMO or PPO Consulate Dental Plans
Which is better the better a Dental PPO or Dental HMO?
I have a family of four and current without dental insurance. We did have it in the past with my wife prior employer but now that she is not working my job does not offer dental benefits and I just not sure which is the better dental plan type to get.
Reply: Really there is not one better then the other. They are both different in how they work and help to cover you.
- PPO – Dental PPO insurance plans main benefit for many people is that they let you choose your own dentist. Meaning even if the dentist you want to go to is not a provider of the plan PPO plan typically let you choose dentist that are not plan providers. These types of plans however, are typically plans you would buy for the long hall, due to their limiations they are not a plan you buy short term.
- HMO – Dental HMO insurance plans are generally the lower cost options with regards to cost of the plans. In an HMO insurance plan however there is no outside network provider benefits. This mean when choosing and HMO you have to pick a plan provider to go to for the plan benefits to be valid.
