Consulate Dental Plans, How does a DHMO Dental Insurance plan works?

I have a dental HMO insurance plan though my job. I would like to know how the HMO plan works. I do not want to get stuck with a dental billing like my friend. When she when to the dentist she had to pay for every thing and then wait for her money from the insurance company which took a little over a month. I can not afford for that to happen to me.

Answer: In general an HMO is a type of dental insurance plan that will lay out your cost for the dental services that are covered. You then pay the dentist only your cost as shown under your plan. There is no claim forms to fill out. Therefore you are not having to pay in full for services and wait for premium back from the insurance company.

Note: if you do not current have a copy of your dental insurance policy showing the plans fee schedule then call them and get it before seeing a dentist.
