Consulate Dental – Dental Insurance Plans for Orthodontic
My 13 year old son needs to have braces to correct crooked teeth issues. Right now as it is I can not afford for him to get the needed braces. I would like to find a dental insurance plan that will make getting him the needed braces more affordable. I want my son to have good looking teeth since I know he does not like to smile with how they look now, but I need to do so at an affordable cost.
Reply: When looking for dental insurance that has orthodontic services for kids you may want to review dental HMO plans though they can be restrictive on the type of braces offered under the plan (mostly typical metal braces). There are a few PPO plans that also provide benefits for orthodontic for children. PPO’s plans may provide a broad range on the type of braces that are covered but make sure you understand that many PPO plans will have waiting periods for such dental services ranging a year or more before benefits kick in.
