What is a Waiting Period – Dental Insurance Kids
When reviewing your policy, you may notice you have waiting periods before benefits are available for specific dental services. An example of the wording you may see in your dental policy
Waiting Periods:
- Basic Benefits are limited to Enrollees who have been enrolled in this Contract for six consecutive months. The waiting period for a Dependent Enrollee is determined by the Primary Enrollee’s length of coverage. Waiting periods are calculated for each Primary Enrollee from the effective date reported by the Contract holder for said Primary Enrollee.
When reviewing PPO or Indemnity insurance plans, you want to know what the waiting periods are for basic and major dental services. You will only have coverage for those services once you pass the waiting period time frame under the policy.
